What is a butt plug?

A butt plug is a toy designed to be inserted and kept in place, rather than moved in and out. Its tapered tip makes insertion easier, its narrower neck lets the muscles close gently around it, and its flared base keeps it from slipping inside. Many people enjoy the sensation of fullness on its own; others wear a plug during foreplay or intercourse to intensify other sensations. Anal toys suit everyone: the area is rich in nerve endings, and for men, a plug can also press close to the prostate.

How to choose the right plug?

Size: start small

The golden rule of anal play is to start small and progress gradually. A kit with several sizes lets your body get used to the sensation over time, without rushing anything.

Material

A silicone butt plug is soft, smooth and slightly flexible, which makes it a reassuring first choice. A metal butt plug is firmer and heavier; it can be warmed or cooled under water for temperature play. Both are easy to clean.

Shape and base

A flared base is essential for any anal toy. Beyond that, choose between a classic teardrop shape, progressive beads, an adjustable inflatable plug or a wider shape for experienced users.

For women or for men

Plugs are not gendered. A butt plug for women can add a sense of fullness during vaginal stimulation, while a butt plug for men may also bring sensations close to the prostate. Choose according to your experience, not your gender.

The different types of anal toys

  • Beginner butt plug kit: a 4-piece black silicone set with three plugs in progressive sizes, each with a rhinestone jewel at the base, plus a mini bullet vibrator.
  • Jewel butt plug set: three polished silver metal plugs in progressive sizes, each base adorned with a red gem-shaped jewel.
  • Anal beads: a series of beads graduating from small to large, with a flared base, for progressive sensations.
  • Huge butt plug: a very wide egg shape with a flared suction base, in copper or black, intended for experienced users.
  • Inflatable butt plug: a silicone plug with a hand pump and release valve, so its size can be adjusted gradually after insertion.
  • Remote control vibrating plug: an app-controlled plug with a flat base, in red, black or purple, ideal for sharing control with a partner.

How to use a butt plug?

Choose a relaxed moment and take your time. Apply plenty of water-based lubricant to the plug and to the entrance: this area does not lubricate itself, so lubricant is essential. Water-based lubricant is compatible with silicone toys, whereas silicone-based lubricant can damage them. Breathe deeply, relax and insert the tip slowly, pausing whenever you need to. Once the widest part has passed, the plug settles at its neck and the base rests outside the body. Start with short sessions and lengthen them as you feel comfortable. Never use force: any discomfort is a sign to stop. Clean the plug before and after use with warm soapy water or a toy cleaner, then let it dry.

Questions

Ask us anything.

What size should a beginner start with?
The smallest size of a progressive kit is the ideal starting point. Move up only when the previous size feels completely comfortable.
How long can you wear a plug?
Start with a few minutes and increase gradually as you get used to it. Listen to your body and remove the plug gently at the first sign of discomfort.
Metal or silicone: which should I choose?
A silicone butt plug is soft and flexible, often preferred for a first experience. Metal is firmer, heavier and can be warmed or cooled for temperature play. Both are easy to clean.
Can a plug get lost inside?
Not if it has a flared or wide base, which is precisely why this feature is essential. Never use an object without a suitable base for anal play.
