What is a dildo?

A dildo is a toy designed for penetration, vaginal or anal, usually without vibration. Its appeal lies in its simplicity: you control the pace, the depth and the angle completely. Dildos come in many forms, from smooth, slightly curved shapes that target the G-spot or the prostate, to ribbed textures, harness-compatible models and motorised toys that move on their own. A base, flat or with a suction cup, keeps them stable and is essential for any anal use.

How to choose the right model?

Size

If you are just starting out, a small dildo or the smaller size of a model is the most comfortable choice. It is always better to begin modestly and progress gradually, at your own pace.

Material and firmness

A silicone dildo is smooth, pleasant to the touch and easy to clean, and a flexible one follows the movements of your body. Our suction cup model, for example, is made of soft, flexible liquid silicone. Firmer toys offer a more pronounced feeling of fullness.

Shape and texture

A slight curve helps reach the G-spot or the prostate, while ridges add sensation with each movement. Smooth, slender shapes are usually the most comfortable dildo for beginners.

Base and use

A suction cup dildo can be fixed to a smooth, flat surface such as tiles or a shower wall for hands-free play. A strap on lets a partner wear the toy, with or without a harness depending on the model.

The different types of dildos

  • Silicone suction cup dildo: smooth and slightly curved, made of soft, flexible liquid silicone, with a suction base and available in two sizes.
  • Ribbed dildo for men: undulating ridges, a slender tip and a wide suction base suitable for anal play, including prostate stimulation.
  • Strap-on with harness: a curved toy that attaches to an adjustable harness, for sharing roles as a couple.
  • Remote control strapless strap-on: a double-ended L-shaped toy, one end worn internally and the other used for penetration, with vibrations controlled by a wireless remote and a supporting brief included.
  • Thrusting dildo: an automatic back-and-forth movement with several thrusting modes and a suction base for hands-free use.

Curious about anal play? Our butt plugs are designed to be worn, while our vibrators add vibration to penetration.

How to use it comfortably?

Take time for foreplay first: relaxation and arousal make penetration much more comfortable. Apply a generous amount of water-based lubricant, which is compatible with silicone toys, whereas silicone-based lubricant can damage them. Insert slowly, listen to your body and stop if anything feels uncomfortable. For anal play, always use a toy with a flared or wide base and go even more gently. If you use a suction cup, make sure the surface is clean, smooth and dry so it holds firmly. With a strap-on, agree with your partner on pace and depth, and keep talking throughout. Wash your toy before and after each use with warm soapy water or a dedicated toy cleaner, then let it dry completely.

Questions

Ask us anything.

What size should a beginner choose?
Choose a slender, smooth model or the smaller size of a toy available in several sizes. Comfort matters more than size, and you can always progress gradually.
Does a suction cup stick to any surface?
A suction cup holds best on smooth, flat, non-porous surfaces such as glass or tiles. Press the base firmly onto a clean surface; textured or porous materials will not hold.
What is the difference between a strap-on with and without a harness?
A harness model attaches the toy to an adjustable brief or belt. A strapless model has one end worn internally by the wearer, so both partners feel sensations.
Can a silicone dildo be used for anal play?
Only if it has a flared or wide base that prevents it from slipping inside. Always use plenty of water-based lubricant and go slowly.
